We just returned from a fantastic time on the Big Island of Hawaii. Lee and I were able to go, along with our dear friends Austin and Kristin Hill, to an orthopedic conference for the guys at the Fairmont Orchid, near Kona, Hawaii. With our parents keeping our girls, there was nothing to do but have a truly amazing vacation.

Happy Fourth from Camp Murphy
Hidey-Ho from Camp Murphy!
The girls and I are on "summer camp" together (as I like to think about it), as Lee has begun his Trauma rotation and we are spending lots of time without him. Over this 4th weekend, our camp schedule centered on planting flowers, finger painting, lots of floor time to entice Sawyer to move, a playgroup in our backyard and joining in the Gower Neighborhood 4th of July parade and water fun. In and among those events, Lee was able to come home from being on call and share a few meals and play with us for a bit. I even let him hold the flag in my evening flagpole ceremony. (Just kidding) Overall, I think it was the most quiet and tranquil 4th of July weekend I can remember...lots of downtime and quiet moments with the girls.
Isn't it funny how life changes so drastically at times? Perhaps just having a child does that. But not so long ago, my 4th would have been quite completely, very different.
I hope that your 4th was a great one.

It's official!
Montgomery's capitol building
My favorite local pizza, Tomatino's, in charming Old Cloverdale.
The Shakespeare Festival.
We are returning to Montgomery, Alabama!
Yes!
Yes!
This week Lee signed a contract with Southern Orthopedic Surgeons at Baptist and we are planning to return mid-summer of 2013. We are really so excited and I couldn't be more proud of Lee. What a journey this is! So our 2 year plan is:
July 2012-move to Jackson, MS for a fellowship in Sports Medicine
July 2013-move to Montgomery, AL for practice
Shall we say that we love the Southeast? I guess there truly is no place like home...
