About Me

My photo
This is my "snapshot scrapbook" of our daily doings for my children and family. I hope to preserve the "everyday" for my children and for us so that we can always read it and remember.

Greer speaks!

At 17 months Greer is saying quite a few things...da da, ma ma, wow, yay, ay (for yes), out, ice, hi, hey...

He is busy and bustling while awake!

One classic Greer story is just today eating at Chappy's: as I went to wipe his dripping nose, he protested and slammed his head back-and-forth, hitting himself on the side of the table with a lot of force. He had cut himself by his eye and was had drew blood. He quickly returned to eating, not bothered at all. This is all in a normal day with our Greer-man. Whew!

Lee's party

Last weekend, Lee's group threw him a party to celebrate the fact that he has become a full partner. It was a great event for the employees, doctors and staff with Jennie Weller catering. We even got Lee's brother Tyler to come down with his band to play for everyone. Lee got his harmonica and joined in! It was a memorable night marking a big moment in Lee's career. What a journey!

Halloween 2015

We had a really nice Halloween. We had an Indian, a baby kitty cat and a pumpkin boy. We went trick-or-treatering with our neighbors the Johnsons and Murph was able to come! There were more children than ever in the neighborhood and we ran out of candy by 7 o'clock! The girls got a good workout walking around for more than an hour and although Greer got eaten up by mosquitoes, it was a great night all in all!

Neighbor cookout

Greer reaches for more dessert.

The only silence fell during ice cream time!

Sullivan tells stories in the bounce house.
Below, our clan and dear neighbors playing "indians" outside.

We invited our immediate neighbors over for a cookout last Saturday night! Together (and some were missing!?) we have 14 children under age 8! Wow! It was busy and boisterous but I think all had a grand time eating hot dogs and having delicious dessert on a cool fall evening.

Homework champs!

These girls get it done! Sawyer has joined up with big sis to focus right after school and knock out the homework tasks. I am really proud at how responsible and attentive they are to their work. Go girls!

Busy boy!

My Greer-man is a busy little guy on the go these days! He is walking faster and faster and never seems to be still! He almost has a full set of teeth and knaws on everything, like my empty coffee cup, above. He is a true danger to himself at all times and we are thankful he naps and sleeps A LOT.

Go Hawks!

This past Saturday we had fun at the Huntingdon College Homeccoming game! There were bounce houses, tents and food, and although it was naptime and we only stayed for a few minutes, the band, the dance team and the whole scene enthralled us all. Hawk 'em!

Greer update

Our little Greer isn't so little any more!!! At 13mos, he is an energetic, curious little guy who does not have time to stop and have his diaper changed. He loves to go-go-go! He spends time unplugging electrical outlets, emptying the dishwasher, going up and down stairs, throwing toys and babbling consonants. He is so happy and affectionate; strong and determined. He loves life and still wants to be held although he is walking with more confidence each day.

Sawyer is 5!

Sawyer turned five on September 8! We are so happy for her and she has enjoyed numerous birthday celebrations at home, school and at grandparent's homes. Above, you see our special waffle breakfast at home as well as our tea party event at our home. She is loving Calico Critters, aka "beanie babies", Legos, playing "baby kitty cat" and being with her brother and sister. She is now is PreK and takes ballet, computer and Spanish! We love our Sawyer!

Second Grade!

Sullivan started the second grade with Mrs. McDonald on August 18. So far she is off to a great start! She is reading like a champ, writing summaries each evening and jumping back into the math fact plan. We are so excited for her!

Greer is a walking man!

I don't have any footage as of yet, but our Greer is taking steps, more more each day! I can officially say he started walking at 13 months. He is babbling and cooing more words all the time… he says mama, dada, and something that resembles "si" and "mas" in Spanish.  He communicates effectively by pointing and gesturing and I feel as though he can tell me what he wants, which surprises me!

NYC Wedding

 The cityscape from Central park.
Matt and Klara dance their first dance as a married couple.
 Opulent table settings!
We pose as the ceremony begins.
 The cake!
Above and below, we await the wedding festivities.
 Below, the 9-11 Memorial pools.
Below, Lee sits in the decadent micro-foodhall in the bottom of the Plaza Hotel. Affordable and delicious, this foodhall offered tons of options at mini-restaurants. We ate there often.
 The Plaza!

Above, the Palm Court at the Plaza. Below, Mom and Dad man the frontlines at home.
Lee and I had the chance to go to New York City this early August to attend a wedding of a friend from our fellowship year. Matt and Klara were wed at the Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue in what was quite a three-part event. We enjoyed the pre-wedding music, food and bar, then had a traditional jewish ceremony and finally had dinner and dancing in the Grand Ballroom until 2am. Truly an experience!  We were able to stay at the Plaza for two nights and enjoy the sights, sounds and delights of the city, nestled right beside Central Park. Although we had little time, we did get to see the 9-11 Memorial Museum, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, shop and eat a bit and in general, live a very different life for about 48hrs. Amazing.
Thank you to my parents and Colleen for the childcare and love!!!
