About Me

My photo
This is my "snapshot scrapbook" of our daily doings for my children and family. I hope to preserve the "everyday" for my children and for us so that we can always read it and remember.

Greer, 2yrs 3mos

There are lots of things going on with Greer right now at his particular age and I don't want to forget. He loves coins. Pennies dimes nickels, doesn't matter, he wants to have some in his hand almost at all times. This can be quite tricky. Everything is ritualized right now. Taking a nap and going to bed involves many steps such as him brushing his teeth on his own, him choosing various books that we both need to read simultaneously side-by-side. He also must have certain stuffed animals and blankets all at once in his arms, which he can't contain. Dropping them leads to frustration. He likes to hold hands and insists upon it when we walk together across the street. He doesn't want to be held as much now. He loves music and songs and sings to himself quite a bit, although it is all an approximation of the song and he struggles with pronunciation.
He likes to know where all family members are and wants to be in the mix, doing whatever we are doing, altogether. In general he is excited about life and school and Elmo and pennies.
We love you Greer!

Saturday morning post

Love the shot of Greer in his daddy's arms while doing puzzles and reading the Saturday morning paper. A sweet moment.

Huntingdon Cheer Camp

Huntington College, where Lee takes care of the athletes and I teach, hosted a cheer camp for little girls this past Saturday before the game. Then the campers got to join the cheerleaders on the field before the game for a dance and a cheer. Sawyer loved it and was precious out there. My parents, Colleen and the Coopers joined us for the game and the children loved it. It was an exciting match up against Birmingham Southern. Go Hawks!

Sawyer turns six!

Sawyer had a great sixth birthday this year. We had family celebrations with Lee's family and my parents as well as a super special birthday party at the Looneys skating rink. Between family and friends, she received so many amazing treasures: a new sewing machine, quixels, Legos, calico critters, books and more!

She is really enjoying kindergarten and seems to love the playground, snacks, and the enrichment activities best. We love you dear Sawyer!

My birthday

Beautiful meal at Galley and Garden.

Birthday party with Honey

Special gift from my Sullivan

I had a very special birthday today and this past weekend. My parents kept the children and Lee and I got to go to Birmingham overnight, we got to celebrate with Lee's mom last night, Lee wrote me a beautiful note and my family gave me lovely gifts (robotic vacuum cleaner, jewelry, le crueset and Nora Fleming...). I also got to lunch with my parents and my sister today, during my workday, which was such a treat. I'm so thankful to be surrounded by so many amazing people! Thank you, friends and family!!!

Camden Carlisle Murphy

Lee's brother, Tyler, and his wife, Ash, delivered their first child, a son, yesterday September 5, 2016, at 8:30 in the morning. Camden is 6 lbs. 5 oz. and Mom and baby are doing very well. We are so thankful for this special blessing and to have a new little cousin in our family! Congratulations, Tyler and Ash!

Milo

This weekend it was Sawyer's turn to take home her class doggie, Milo. She had a grand time snuggling him and bringing him along with her, such a good mommy. She has loved having Milo at home!

Sweet Creek Market

Recently we took the family to the sweet Creek Farmer's Market on 231. We had a fun morning of looking at the products and produce and eating a wonderful lunch. The kids especially enjoyed this huge cow and the mist machines.

Field trip to the movies

This Friday I was able to help drive Sawyer's summer school class to a morning movie field trip. Everyone enjoyed a cool morning indoors, complete with popcorn and drinks for all.

Sweet moments

Greer insists on "doing homework" with the girls.
Popsicles while watching the rain.
"Meet the teachers" with my angel girls!

Back to school

Getting ready!

Greer goes to school, too!
Mrs. Herbert, Sawyer's Kindergarten teacher!
Mrs. Tankersely, third grade!

We have had an action-packed few days with kindergarten events, convocation and the beginning of school. The girls are really excited and are off to a wonderful school year! Go Eagles!

Shopping

While Sullivan was an invention camp, Greer and Sawyer and I enjoyed some time shopping together. I can't believe my Sawyer's headed to kindergarten in just a few weeks!

Dinner party at Springhouse

Sweet friends of ours won a dinner party at a fundraising event and were kind enough to include us for the festivities! Five couples were included and we all enjoyed taking a bus to Alex city to enjoy a lovely dinner at the Spring House restaurant. It was a beautiful evening and a very fun "adult prom night"! Thank you, Whitleys!!!

McWane Center Adventure

Today we dropped Greer off with his Gigi and Waylo and me and the girls took a day to travel to Birmingham to visit the McWane Center. It was a nice chance I had to give them my full attention and I could barely get them to stop playing to eat lunch! It was a quick visit, but it was full and brimming with action and activity. The girls loved the IMAX theater and all the special treats. We will all sleep well tonight!
Thank you, Gigi and Waylo!!!
