About Me

My photo
This is my "snapshot scrapbook" of our daily doings for my children and family. I hope to preserve the "everyday" for my children and for us so that we can always read it and remember.

The BreakUp Artist

These days it seems that Sullivan is quick to terminate our relationship. I thought I had a ways to go before this would begin, but no...
I try not to worry too much about it, tell her lovingly that I understand that that is how she feels and that it is ok with me and I will always love her.
She soon changes her mind and then we begin the whole process again...whew.
The exclamations usually include a request to stop kissing her, looking at her, to refrain from being her friend, that we can no longer play together or read books, that I will not be invited to her birthday party, etc. But she really hit a new level of crazy (yet creative) yesterday in the car. Having a full blown, totally random fit about her car seatbelt all of the sudden being too tight, she declared that there were tiny crabs in her carseat, nibbling at her side as well as scorching blisters onto her eyes that I was really not very nice to not stop the car at that very instant and attend to her.
And that I was no longer her mommy.
Wow.
She was truly disappointed when Lee and I could not see the crab bites on her side later on.
And also that she spent the evening in her room while her sister watched the special night-time tv show.

I'll keep you posted on whether or not those pesky crabs return.

Worth going back for...

We ran home for another quick visit to Montgomery this weekend in order to participate in a Charity race downtown in memory of Cole Ellis. We had a great time running, just me and Lee. We also got to spend lots of time with Lee's parents and his grandfather, above.

Us right after my 5k and Lee's 10k.

My number, one to remember as I ran in a record time for me...5 min faster than last time!

Glimpse

I am still working on getting our home cozy and well-designed, but here is a quick glimpse of the bones of the house and a few features that I really like. We are really enjoying the home and simply don't know what to do with all of this new space.

 Our gorgeous glass front door.
Back stoop that leads to lawn.
 Master bedroom.
The view from my ladder of my storage system in our master closet.
Lee told me not to get used to this.
 Sawyer's room.
Sullivan's bed,the rest of her room was just a total wreck...
 The girl's bathroom.
Our double sink, tub and shower around the corner...
 Ktichen.
Bar that wraps the other side of kitchen.
Sitting area by the stone fireplace.
Den in front of the kitchen.
Media console, built by Dr. Porter himself.
Backyard.

Children's Museum of Jackson

Love their logo!

Jump-stick wall...girls didnt like the Velcro suits available, but Lee and I thought it looked awesome!

Sullivan milking a cow!

We four visited the almost two year-old local museum yesterday, and enjoyed the loads of exhibits and hands-on experiences. With a jump-stick Velcro wall, make-your-own waterboat race, daily art project, music and playground-like layout, this is one of the best kid's museums I have explored. And with a reasonable yearly pass, we'll be back often!

Next best thing?

Lee and I can't make it to a tropical vacation this summer, but thanks to my sister and her discovery of Essie's new Tourquoise and Caicos polish, I am feeling a bit Island-ish...

THIS is summer

I am just now really coming to understand my Canon Powershot S95.  And in exploring its capabilities, I captured a few key moments during our "Camp Montgomery" over the last two weeks. These photos will hopefully bring alive the summer of 2012 for my girls one day. In the meantime, they certainly do for me.

We are now spending time with Lee's parents and our Honey

Zoo+ Lake

The Montgomery Zoo has stepped up it's game since my last visit in 1987. I was pleasantly surprised! The girls loved the tigers, monkeys, snakes and hippo. We even got to feed parakeets and get on the train.

More fun with Animal-shaped pancakes a la GiGi...

Below, creating a zoo of their own...

And Today we are visiting my sister and her family on Lake Martin. Lounging at the lake...
