About Me

My photo
This is my "snapshot scrapbook" of our daily doings for my children and family. I hope to preserve the "everyday" for my children and for us so that we can always read it and remember.

Girl's getaway

Sullivan and Wellesley stroll North Point Mall.

All smiles.

The brave Mamas!

Sullivan enjoyed pushing Sawyer for a bit...very nice.

Nothing beats a huge ice cream! Below, Cameron (4), Wellesley's sister, and Sawyer giggle on the bed.

Back in Greenville, Sullivan made a special friend at school named Wellesley. They loved each other and we have kept in touch. Thanks to her sweet mama, Sarah, we made a fun meet-up event this past weekend in Atlanta, a nice mid-point for us both. The Alpharetta Marriott was quite a treat for the girls and just swimming, enjoying room service and the fun of four little girls was enough excitement for us all! Not to mention that the America Girl Store and North Point Mall was quite near by! We all had a great time scoping out the sites and stores. Despite the traffic and crowds, we had a great time. Thank you, Sarah, Wellesley and Cameron!

Look out

Sawyer has been "showin' out" a new face lately. Furrowed brow, lips pursed, eyes glaring.
It is often accompanied with her shouting the word "never!" Or saying "I told you!" Both are new to her vocabulary. Neither word or phrase make any sense in the situation usually, but she is stating her ground and her frustration.

Hard not to crack a smile.

Rainy rain

I snapped this picture of Sullivan yesterday afternoon just before the monsoon-like winds began. I was cleaning up the kitchen and before I knew it the drizzle that she was enjoying turned into a torrential downpour. I ran to the door and called for her and she was about 50ft away. By the time she made it back she was soaked, but smiling ear to ear from the adventure of it.  Her strong spirit drives me to my limits at moments, but I have to appreciate her vitality and effervescence.

Fine, fine art

Inside the human-sized kaleidoscope.

Sull's magna-tile house. She spent more than 20 minutes creating this.

Masks! And the Tannenbaum Screen, below, never gets old.

A girl can only unpack and organize so much!

We have had to get out and do. Much to my surprise, the art museum in town is free! I loved going to ARTWORKS, the children's area of the museum, as a child and I was tickled that my girls loved it to pieces as well. Many of the activities and exhibits are the same, but there are some new fancy bells and whistles that engaged them tremendously, like race cars, magna-tiles, a hand puppet stage, printing press, etc.

Lee got to come home this weekend, which we all loved.
We were treated to a night out to see "A Ring of Fire" at The Alabama Shakespeare Festival...very well done.

Perks

We are already enjoying a few perks of being back home:
1. Having the park to ourselves on a sunny day.
2. Making pizzas at my sister's house.
3. Having family around us!

Many thanks to Mom, Lauren and Colleen for caring for the girls so much this past week and taking them to the movies, zoo, mall, get Icees and Italian Ice, etc. I appreciate you so much! We love you!

Small victory

It is a huge thing to me that we can walk through the kitchen now! Living in a sea of boxes does not bring me peace...little by little our new place will take shape. Here are a few recent pics.

The front door of our Cottage rental.

Our crisp kitchen. Love that hood and the subway tile.

We got to visit with Lee's mom, above, and brother, below, as well as the rest of his extended family this weekend at a family get-together.

A happy Fourth

Yesterday we had a nice, low key Fourth with water fun and lunch at our fellow friend's home and then playtime at the park. No real fireworks for us, but we still celebrated and enjoyed our last holiday in Jackson. Hope the yours was a great one!

Sawyer chills in the zebra pool.

Sam and Eric thought up this sprinkler + trampoline setup...genius!

Fun at the park.

Me, Christy, baby Luke, Samantha and little Peyton.
We fellow wives have been each other's saving grace this year...I will miss you girls!

Bucket list weekend

After the Saturday Farmer's market, we got Lee a cowboy hat at the classic Boots and More store, above.

We passed through our favorite, Lemuria Bookstore,
once more.

Lee and I enjoyed a date night and went to the new Apothecary bar deep inside Brent's Drugs.

On Sunday, we went to the MS Brave's game!

This past weekend was our last one together in Jackson, as Lee is working the Fourth and all next weekend. We tried to get in as much as possible and it turned out to be an awesome weekend with cool, breezy weather.
