About Me

My photo
This is my "snapshot scrapbook" of our daily doings for my children and family. I hope to preserve the "everyday" for my children and for us so that we can always read it and remember.

Happy Easter!

Sawyer makes friends with Mr. Bunny.

Sawyer immediately zoned in on this swing...one of her very favorite activities.
 Let the Hunt begin!

Sweet-tooth Sully heads straight for the cookies!
 Lots of eggs!
 I mean lots!
Sullivan loved the hunt and knew just what to do this year. Sawyer was a bit confused and not too terribly interested...
Getting frustrated because Mommy touched her egg.

In a daze just before going to church...
Posing with her bunny. Sawyer did not want to participate.

We have had a nice Easter weekend and I hope that you have as well. Despite Lee having a very challenging weekend call with little sleep, we have made the most of the moments we have had with him. The weekend fun began with an Easter Egg Hunt at our friend Mary Gale's home, nearby.
Next, the girls received bubble packs on Easter morning and played in their birthday suits with bubbles, wands and water guns all morning in our big garden tub while I showered and got ready. We headed to mass with the girls in their beautiful new lavendar dresses made by my Mama. So pretty!
Lastly, we got to share Easter lunch with our dear fellowship friends the Steifels! We had lots to celebrate as they recently took a job and found a home in Valdosta, GA, where they are from.  And in the end, Lee was able to rush in and a have a bite with us! So glad for that!

Happy Easter 2013!

Sullivan is 5!

Our birthday girl!

 Opening the loot from Honey!
Figuring out her new CD player.
 Our cake at home.

 Cookie cupcakes for school.
 Make a wish!
Organizing her new musical jewelry box.

Today marks our Sullivan's 5th birthday! Happy Birthday, Sullivan!
We have had an action packed 12 hours or so of opening gifts, taking goodies to school, getting a special birthday hat from her teacher, eating lunch at McDonald's (her choice) with friends and then coming home for more cake and more gifts with the four of us.
And it was a warm, beautiful day to boot!
Thank you to our Honey and Gigi for making it extra special with their gifts!

Photo Shoot

I tried to capture the experience of a gorgeous, warm March afternoon the other day. The girls made me smile with their choices of accessories: Sawyer in boots, a hat and a Hello Kitty pin and Sullivan wearing her kitty-cat face paint. It was a great afternoon and a happy time as the girls really were enjoying one another (which doesn't always happen these days...).  This was a tribute to them making new strides in playing well together and using some good 'ole teamwork.

True Beauty

This past week I took the girls to Montgomery during their Spring Break so that I could begin an intense surge of "Project House Hunting". I saw about 25 homes in two days and then returned to see a few on a third morning. Obviously, I could not have done this without the help of my mom, who quite literally put her life on hold to help me and provide 10+ hours of care for the girls each day. My sister also graciously stepped in and took Sullivan to do some fun things in the afternoons. Between ToysRus, the zoo, Krispy Kreme and Eastdale Mall and endless adventures outside, the girls had a fantastic Break.
When we got home last Thursday night, while watching a show, Sullivan asked me the difference between "pretty" and "beautiful" as those words had just been used in the video. She asked for a definition of each one and then after my attempt at what beautiful meant, she looked at me thoughtfully and said, "Like Gigi, Mommy? Like Gigi?".

Real Beauty. Even at the tender age of 4 not quite 5, she sees it.

Here are a few favorite "Gigi" pics from the last year or so.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Easter's on its way!
I am in Montgomery house-hunting and my sweet mom took the girls to Eastdale Mall. The gals were very excited to take a picture with the Easter Bunny, which surprised us all. I can't ever seem to get such smiles for them simultaneously! This one is so classic as well...doesn't it look like it could be 1987? And Sawyer is wearing her pj top that she refused to remove this morning. So funny.

Get-away to NOLA

Walking along Bourbon Street...it was freezing! (But still chaotic and crazy!)
Meeting Baby Jonathan Foret! So precious!
 Dinner at GW Fin's.
My amazing roasted beet salad at GW Fin's. Lee adored his sizzling roasted oysters!

Dropping in for drinks and dessert at Arnaud's.

Lee is doing his second stint of work in New Orleans right now, a six-week-long experience with him away that none of us really like. However, my parents swooped in to lift our spirits and came to watch the girls in Jackson this past weekend so that I could go and spend some time with Lee in the Big Easy, just the two of us! The trip was extra special in that I got to see my dear residency friend, Shane, and her new baby boy! as well as my sweet childhood friend, Judith Ann.(Forgive me that I didn't take more pictures!) Combine all of that with some fantastic meals at Satsuma, Jacque Imo's and Fin's, walking through the Garden District and sleeping in with my one true love and I call that a fantastic weekend.  Now, only three weeks more until he returns home!
I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...
