About Me

My photo
This is my "snapshot scrapbook" of our daily doings for my children and family. I hope to preserve the "everyday" for my children and for us so that we can always read it and remember.

Maxwell Fire station

Checking out the gear.

What a helmet! Below, Mrs. Nelson and her class pose by the red truck.

Last Wednesday I helped drive fellow Kindergartners to the Maxwell Air force Base Fire station. The children were delighted by the setting near the air field and experiencing the "smokehouse", which is a mobile home they can fill with "Hollywood" smoke to teach about fire safety. What was particularly touching was how much the firefighters themselves seemed to get out of spending time with these polite, curious little people. The men were so tickled and pleased to receive the attention and silly questions. It was a fun morning.
